    Kaduna, Jun. 27, 2024 (NAN) Mr Musa Mada, the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), North-West zone, is optimistic that President Bola Tinubu’s pragmatic policies will place Nigeria on the path of economic recovery.

    Mada said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna.

    He also lauded the performance of state governors elected on the platform of the party from the zone.

    “The president and the governors have all it takes to set the nation on the path of recovery.

    “This is evident in the pragmatic policies that will, in no time, begin to yield fruits.”

    He said that the APC has a focused leadership that values the place of feedback from the  public on the activities of government and their impact.

    Mada urged Nigerians to regard the current economic hardship as temporary.

    Mada said: “The APC leadership of today is different from what it used to be as what we have today are people with vast experience and intellectual capacity to deliver the party to the right path.

    “President Bola Tinubu has set the country on the path of economic revival and I believe, with time, people will smile. Let’s keep hoping and praying for our leaders.”

    He explained that the party’s leaders had never hesitated to tell themselves the truth, especially on the activities of governors and others elected on the ticket of the party.

    Mada said, ”We usually sit down to examine ourselves and tell ourselves the truth.

    “Where an office holder performs well, we hail him and where his performance is poor, we tell him to adjust.

    “We are not a party that deceives ourselves because the moment you become contented with what you are doing to people, you will start neglecting your responsibility; you start becoming arrogant to the people.

    “That’s what chased the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) out of power. They did not value their members.

    Group seeks police support to combat GBV in Kaduna

    Kaduna, June 12, 2024 (NAN) The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) team of the Diocese of Kaduna Nazarene Rural Health Ministry of the Anglican Diocese has sought the partnership with the Kaduna State Police Command to tackle the menace.

    The faith-based group is seeking synergy on massive sensitisation against GBV offences to effectively curtail the ugly trend.

    Rev. Victor Eboh, Desk Officer of the group, led the team alongside members of the Anglican Compassion and Development initiative (ACADI) on a visit to the command.

    The advocacy visit specifically the Officer in Charge of Gender and Family Support Unit (O-C Gender), SP David Dominic

    Eboh said the visit was to seek collaborative support and networking of the police with the Church of Nigeria project.

    He said: “The Church of Nigeria Transformational response to gender-based violence seeks to address GBV using biblical teaching, sensitisation, community engagement, dialogue, focus group discussions among others.

    “We have had quite a number of consultative and advocacy visits to communities including traditional rulers on the same course.

    “Our aim is to ensure a heightened awareness of what GBV entails and create confidence amongst vulnerable members within our communities to voice out when the need arises.

    “It is our hope that the Gender and Family Support Unit of the NPF in Kaduna would give us the necessary backing to actualise this laudable initiative”..

    Responding, Dominic commended the team, describing the initiative as a bold step in the right direction.

    Dominic pledged the command’s support and commitment to the project upon the approval of the Commissioner of Police. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

    Kaduna, June 7, 2024 (NAN) The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) team of the Diocese of Kaduna Nazarene Rural Health Ministry, Anglican Diocese, has solicited the support of the traditional rulers in the state to stem the tide of the menace.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that this support was sought when the team visited the District Head of Nararyi, Mr Stephen Yerima.

    This was in furtherance of the team’s sustained efforts to achieve its mandate in the fight against GBV.

    Rev. Victor Eboh, the Desk Officer of the team, made the call during a sensitisation visit at the residence of the traditional head in Kaduna.

    Eboh said the purpose of the visit was to introduce the members of the team and solicit networking to sensitise people in the community about GBV.

    He said: “Just recently, the team, during the just-concluded 23rd Synod, articulated  in a presentation, the types of GBV.

    ”Which can be sexual, physical, psychological/mental and economic.

    ”The consequences of GBV include suicidal thoughts, mental meltdown, physical bruises, raising abusive members of the society and depression.

    “It is this message we seek support of traditional heads to accessing members of their respective communities.”

    Responding, Yerima commended the initiative of the visiting team, describing it as heartwarming.

    He lamented that GBV has become a big problem in the society, ravaging a lot of people and homes, adding, “this project is for the good of this territory and therefore, I promising to give my full support.”

    Yerima said he covered a wide area ranging from Narayi, Sabon Tasha, Gonin Gora, Romi, Ugwan Pama, Maraban rido, Kudenda, Juji, U/Boro, Gaya, Bugai, Karji, Kamazou, Mahuta, and Kujama.

    He also listed some of the challenges faced in his community to include: Economic hardship and banditry, which according to him, has made women and the girl-children more vulnerable. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

    Anglican group takes fight against GBV to clergies in Kaduna

    Kaduna, June 4, 2024 (NAN) The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) team of the Diocese of Kaduna Nazarene Rural Health Ministry says it is determined to educate  the Clergies in Kaduna to be champions of the same course.

    Rev Victor Eboh, the Desk Officer of the diocese disclosed this during a presentation at the inauguration of the 23rd Synod of the Anglican Diocese held at St. Christopher Anglican Church in Kaduna.

    The  participants at the synod included Bishops, legal practitioners, Clergymen and Laity of the Anglican Diocese of Kaduna.

    It was under the auspices of the Anglican Compassion and Development Initiative (ACADI) Church of Nigeria Project to prevent GBV.

    Eboh spoke on the types of GBV,  listing them to include: Ssexual, physical, psychological, mental and economic.

    He said their consequences include suicidal thoughts, mental meltdown, physical bruises, raising abusive members of the society and depression, amongst others.

    Ebo said, “I employ the House of Synod to cooperate with the Anglican Compassion and Development Initiative to achieve a transformational response to GBV.

    ”This is with the objective to prevent and reduce its occurrence within the Church of Nigeria.

    “I equally charge the House of Synod and delegates to carry the GBV prevention message to their local Parishes and be advocates of GBV prevention in the Diocese of Kaduna and anywhere they find themselves.” (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
