    Gusau, Jun. 9, 2024 (NAN) Sen. Abdul’aziz Yari (APC-Zamfara) has commenced the distribution of 380 cows to 147 political wards across the state for the Eid-el-Kabir festival.
    The Chairman, Sen. Yari’s Political Organization, Alhaji Lawal Liman, disclosed this in a statement issued in Gusau on Sunday.
    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Yari represents Zamfara West Senatorial District in the Senate.
    According to Liman, the  distribution exercise was inaugurated in Kasuwar Daji ward of Ƙaura Namoda Local Government Area.
    Liman said the gesture was part of Yari’s annual assistance to the APC supporters and less-privileged families.
    “Each of the 147 political wards will receive two cows.
    “Other beneficiaries of the gesture include APC executives and other stakeholders of the party in each ward.
    “All the political wards under the Four Local Government Areas of Zamfara North senatorial district have received their allocations.
    “The remaining wards from the 10 local government areas in Zamfara Central and West Senatorial Districts will receive their allocations on Tuesday,” Liman explained.
    He commended Yari for his continuous assistance to the people and called on other political office holders to emulate such efforts. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

    Gusau, June 9, 2024 (NAN) IQRAA Foundation, a group based in Zamfara, on Sunday inaugurated a project tagged: “Path to Peace” to promote sustainable peace in various communities in the state.
    Speaking at the inauguration of the project in Gusau, the Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Umar Mahmud, said it was floated in collaboration with LEAP Africa and the Nigerian Youth Future Fund.
    “We believe that peace is not just the absence of conflict but the presence of justice, equality and opportunity for all.
    “We noticed that Zamfara, like other parts of the country, is also experiencing various conflicts and other security challenges.
    “However, we believe that applying the right strategies through direct engagement with most affected victims in our communities can overcome the challenges,” he explained.
    Mahmud said that the theme of the project “Path to Peace”, was geared toward creating an environment where every individual could contribute to the peace process.
    “The project aims to empower communities affected by conflicts due to insecurity through the capacity-building of strategies for resolving conflicts in a  peaceful manner.
    “We plan to equip community leaders, youth organisations, women’s groups, elders and farmers’ associations with the skills and knowledge in conflict resolution.
    “We will initiate dialogue forums that bring together host communities, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and returnees, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration,” he added.
    Mahmud disclosed that one of the major activities to be implemented under the project was encouraging local peace building initiatives.
    “I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our dedicated team, our partners, and the community leaders who have pledged their support for the successes of this project.”
    Mahmud appealed to stakeholders, members of the community and partners to be dedicated to promoting peace, education and community development.
    “We should act as ambassadors of peace, advocates of dialogue, and champions of a brighter future in society,” he added. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

    Gusau, May 9, 2024 (NAN) Rep. Aminu Jaji (APC-Zamfara), has purchased 3000 rams for distribution to his constituents and the All Progressive Congress (APC) executives, members and vulnerable households in the state.
    This is contained in a statement signed by the State Chairman, Jaji’s Coordinating Committee, Aliyu Abubakar, issued in Gusau on Saturday.
    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Jaji represents Kaura-Namoda/Birnin-Magaji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
    According to Abubakar, Jaji, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Ecological Funds has also earmarked N250 million for distribution to individuals, orphans and vulnerable groups across the state as Eid-el-Kabir welfare packages.
    He said that Jaji’s constituency, Kaura-Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas are to receive  special packages of both  rams and cash.
    “This is an annual gesture aimed to assist Muslim faithful especially the APC members and less-privileged families to perform sacrifices and celebrate Eid-el-Kabir festival in a happy mood.
    “The beneficiaries also include state, local government and ward executives of the party, party elders and prominent persons in the state and former political office holders.
    “Other beneficiaries include former local government councils Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, former Councillors as well as APC associations, among others.
    “Also to benefit from the gesture are Islamic scholars, orphans, youths and women APC support groups, among others,” Abubakar explained.
    He quoted Jaji as calling on the Muslims to use the first 10 days of Zulhijjah and Eid-el-Kabir period to intensify prayers for sustainable peace and stability in the state as well as the country. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

    Talata-Mafara (Zamfara) June 4, 2024 (NAN) Sen. Abdul’aziz Yari (APC-Zamfara) has approved the purchase of 600 rams for distribution to his neighbours and less privileged families in Zamfara West Senatorial District of the state for Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.
    The Coordinator, Zamfara West Senatorial District Constituency Office, Alh. Sha’ayau Sarkinfawa disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday in Talata-Mafara.
    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Yari represents Zamfara West Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
    Sarkinfawa said that the beneficiaries would include Sen. Yari’s neighbours in Talata-Mafara town and other categories of people  in the six Local Government Areas of Zamfara West constituency.
    “You know, this is an annual gesture from our leader, Sen. Yari, aimed at assisting the less privileged households to celebrate the Eid-El-Kabir with ease,” he said.
    Sarkinfawa commended the former governor for his various socio-economic intervention programmes supporting people at the grassroots.

    He called on Muslims to use the Eid-El-Kabir period to pray for peace and stability in the state and Nigeria at large. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

    Gusau, June 4, 2024 (NAN) The Zamfara Government has paid over N3 billion outstanding Senior Secondary Schools Examination (SSCE) fees, left by the previous administration in the state.
    The State Commissioner for Science and Technical Education, Alhaji Wadatau Madawaki, disclosed this to newsmen in Gusau on Tuesday.
    “This is one of the greatest achievements recorded by Gov. Dauda Lawal’s  administration in the education sector, within one year.
    “You know, education is number two among priority agenda of the present administration, considering the fact that education is the bedrock for development of every society.
    “That is why, immediately he assumed office, the governor declared state of emergency in the education sector”, Madawaki said.
    The commissioner added: “We find a situation in the state where our children graduated from secondary schools, but without results.
    “This is simply because the past administration, failed to pay outstanding Senior Secondary Schools Examination fees.
    “The state was owing West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and National Examination Council (NECO) over N3 billion.
    “This affected the enrolment of our children in tertiary institutions, across the country for the past three years, but this administration, within one year in office, has paid all the outstanding, to the examination bodies, amounting to over N3 billion”.
    The commissioner said the students had secured their results that had been withheld for the past three years, and had enrolled into various tertiary institutions across the country.”
    He added that the present administration had also embarked on addressing other challenges, affecting education sector in the state.
    “We are working, day and night to address various challenges in the education sector in the state”, he explained.
    Specifically, he said the governor was addressing challenges such as, infrastructure decay, non availability of teaching and learning materials in schools, inadequate libraries, laboratories, as well as inadequate qualified teachers.
    “We have also made proper arrangement to enhance capacity building, training and retraining for education staff.
    “We have since embarked on the total renovation of 325 schools across the state, and we are going to construct and renovate laboratories, across schools in the state”, he added.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

    Gusau, June 1, 2024 (NAN) The Zamfara chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the state government under Gov. Dauda Lawal to employ more strategies towards ending banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
    This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Saturday by the state APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris.
    “The state APC chapter condemned recent attacks on the residence of State Hajj Commission’s Chairman, Alhaji Musa Mallaha in the state capital by bandits.
    “The State APC Chairman, Alhaji Tukur  Danfulani, on behalf of the party’s State Working Committee, executives and members in the state wishes to condole Mallaha and his family over the recent attack on his residence which led to the death of his son, Abdulmunafi.
    “May Allah grant the deceased a home in Aljannatul Firdausi,” Idris said.
    According to him, the party is equally touched and appalled by the abduction of other residents in the area during the attack who are currently in the bandits’ captivity.
    Idris said, “We pray to Allah to save them and ensure their rescue very soon.
    “We once again wish to implore the state government to employ more strategies to bring to an end the activities of bandits and other criminals in our state.
    “We also pray for the continued unity, stability, and development of Zamfara and Nigeria in general..”
    According to him, the party also wishes to extend its heartfelt condolences to the family of late Alhaji Yusuf Danhausa, an elder statesman who passed away recently in Gusau.
    “Danhausa, who died at the stunning age of 126 years, lived a highly impactful life worthy of emulation.
    “May his gentle soul continue to rest in Aljannatul Firdausi and may Allah accord the family the fortitude to bear this great loss,” Idris said (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
