    Kaduna, June 28, 2024 (NAN) The National Youth leader of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), Auwal Musa, has described the EFCC investigation on the former Kano State Governor, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, as a political witch-hunt.

    He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Kaduna that the action was instigated by some political rivals to tarnish Kwankwaso’s image.

    “ I challenge EFCC to come out with facts on the allegations, otherwise, we consider it as an attempt to witch-hunt and victimise him,’’ he said.

     The leader further argued that there was no justification for EFCC to commence investigation of Kwankwaso from 2015 to 2023 as a former Governor and leader of NNPP.

    “ Why did the EFCC wait this long to investigate him , nine years after leaving office and also why investigate party affairs,’’ Musa asked.

    According to him, investigating an ‘honest and hardworking’ person like Kwankwaso will only amount to a waste of time.

    “Go to Kano and see what he did as a governor, check his records as a  Defence Minister, and a Senator,’’ he said.

    Musa urged EFCC to disregard any petition written against Kwankwaso by any politician or any associate.

    On NNPP crises, the youth leader said the party had resolved all its internal crises including the power tussle among its officers at the local, state and national levels.

    “ We have recently conducted elections into various offices in 13 states of the country successfully,’’ he said.

    He added that the party had also made changes in its logo and structurally designed a method of campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.

    “ It is our hope that the NNPP will give a surprise outing and will win national and state seats in the coming elections.

    “ Nigerian youths are ready to make serious changes in the national political scene.

    ”We’ll take over government and salvage this country from maladministration,’’ he said.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

    Abuja, June 27, 2024(NAN)The Arewa Community in Southern Nigeria has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the Kano royal tussle to save the traditional institution from further ridicule.

    The Chairman of the community, Alhaji Musa Saidu, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.

    He alleged that the entire crisis was orchestrated by politicians for their selfish end, not minding the collosal damage to the revered Kano Emirate.

    He added that the crisis would in no way benefit the collective interest of the generality of the people of Kano State, or will it add any value to the traditional institution.

    “Kano is a political nerve of the country and President Tinubu needs the state for his second term in 2027, as such should not allow the current royal tussle to degenerate.”

    Saidu said that the impasse over the Kano Emirate stool was a huge embarrassment to not only the state but the country as a whole.

    “It is a huge disrespect to law and order as well as the traditional institution.

    “ The frequent dethronement of emirs in the North by politicians within the last three decade is a symptom of collapse of our cultural and traditional society,’’ he said.

    The Arewa leader said that President Tinubu’s silence on the matter was “worrisome and wrong”.

    “ If former president Buhari, in spite of his controversies, could set up a committee to mediate and reconcile Emir Sanusi and former Kano State governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2020, why can’t Tinubu do the same,’’ he said.

    Saidu advised both Emir Aminu Ado Bayero and Muhammadu Sanusi II to consider the damage the impasse had made on the traditional institution they represent.

    He reminded them to take heed to the general belief that power comes from God, who bestows it on whom He wishes.

    “Allah gives power to whoever He wishes and takes it whenever He wants, so let’s accept destiny in our lives,’’ he said.

    He appealed to politicians to stop disuniting the people for their selfish interest.

    Meanwhile, Saidu has supported ongoing investigation process of former Kaduna State governor, Nasiru el-Rufai.

    “We support the investigation of el-rufai government, we support EFCC intervention as well,’’ he added.

    He described the action of Kaduna State House of Assembly as worthy of emulation by other lawmakers, adding that democracy cannot flourish under state of corruption.

    “El-rufai is an advocate of transparency in governance, today is his turn to prove his innocence or otherwise.

    “ Don’t go to court, go and appear before the investigation committee and defend yourself,’’  Saidu advised elrufai. (NAN)

    Abuja, June 8, 2024 (NAN) The new Corps Marshal of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohmmed, says modalities have been put in place to eliminate delay in accessing drivers licence and number plates.

    Mohammed gave the assurance  in Abuja at a reception organised in his honour by the Alumnus of College of Advance Studies (CAS) Zaria on Saturday.

    The corps marshal said  he would address the incessant complaint of delay in accessing number plates and drivers licence, especially in the FCT.

    “ I went on a facility assessment in our FCT office today, the causes of the delay are numerous, some are internal, while others are technical and financial,’’ he said.

    The FRSC boss said that he had summoned the technical partners and supervisors to find immediate and lasting solutions to the problem.

    “ I want to assure you that the number plate’s problems will be over, and FCT is our priority,’’ Mohammed said.

    He also spoke on efforts being made by the FRSC to reduce the rate of traffic accidents and ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations.

    He, therefore, solicited the support of all Nigerians, particularly motorists to make Nigerian roads safer for all.

    “ I have more than 36,000 staff with 600 formations nationwide, but it is a herculean task, and I need your support,’’ he added.

    The new Corps Marshal expressed appreciation for the solidarity and recognition by the association.

    “ It is gratifying for me to interact with my school and classmates of whom I am meeting today after many years,’’ he said.

    He described his appointment as destined by God and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by President Bola Tinubu.

    In his address, the Chairman of the Alumni association, Comrade Kabiru Shehu, said the reception was organised to honor the corpse marshal for attaining the peak of his career.

    “ Shehu Mohmmed was known to be a brilliant, intelligent and humble student, this is what led to his success,’’ he said.

    He urged the new corps marshal to work hard towards improving the operations of the organisation.(NAN)
