Lagos, March 29, 2018 (NAN) The Creative Director of a fashion house, Grace Dogubo, has advised fashion designers to pool resources to create fashion hubs in order to boost production.

Dogubo gave the advice on Thursday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

She said that the government would support the industry when fashion designers showed some level of concern in boosting the sector.

Dogubo said that together, designers would be able meet the demand of Nigerians.

Cue-in- Fashion hubs

“The major challenge we are having in the industry is support. Actually, to have a fashion hub in Nigeria is capital intensive.

“Sincerely speaking, it’s not something that one designer, 10 designers can do.

“A lot of designers in the industry have been having their mini-hubs which can still not meet up to the demand of the citizens in Nigeria.

“So what I think is, since the government has not really looked into that sector.

“When the designers come together and decide we can do this together and together we put up resources to begin to develop hubs together, not an individual thing now.

“If for instance, five designers come together and we get equipment, then we employ labour, we will see that the hub will start up.

“So since we can’t do it as an individual thing, we are looking up to doing it together.

“By the time we start, I believe the government will see into and want to support, ” she said.

Cue out – Fashion hubs

Dogubo called on practitioners that had designers’ schools to train personnel in the use of industrial machines to facilitate the setting up of production hubs in the country. (NAN)
