Ibadan, June 23, 2017 (NAN) The Oyo State Command of the NDLEA on Friday solicited the support of parents and guardians in the fight against drug abuse to safeguard the future of their children.
The State Commander, Mrs Omolade Faboyede, made the appeal in Ibadan during a news briefing organised by the command against the backdrop of the upcoming 2017 International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

“There is a lot of abuse of Cannabis Sativa in Oyo State.
“ We have been doing a lot of arrests the theme for this year says “Listen First’’ so, it is a kind of preventive approach to balance up.
“The issue of supply reduction and the other side, now, is how you create the awareness because prevention is better than cure.
“If you prevent the young from going into drugs then you will not have people to treat for addiction.
“If the awareness is raised right from children to the youths and they are different programmes that are talking to their minds before they get older, the possibility is there that when they become adult they will not become drug addicts.
“And also for parents to inculcate the morals into their children right from home and when they get to school the teachers too will talk to them and before you know what is happening, you will have adults that are drug free.
“And so, that is the essence for the theme of this year, to ensure that there is prevention right from when you are a child to a youth and that makes you a better person when you are an adult.’’
