“The functions of the centre are not well known by a lot of people, and the significant function is we are regulator; we are responsible for accreditation of all management consultants and also management institutions.
“If there is any management consultants that is operating and is not been accredited by the CMB is operating illegally.
“We have 20 members of the councils, this is because of the significant and important of manpower development in Nigeria, we have made a stride and there is lot of improvement, we have gone across the all the 36 states in the country and trying to do accreditation and quality assurance. The onus to us is lack of funding.’’

NAN reports that as at 2015, only 48 registered institutions and 200 management development consultants in the country were qualified to practice in the public and private sectors.
He said the centre in its effort to ensure that development consultants and institutions are properly registered has gone round the country to create awareness.
Usman said the number of accredited development consultants and institutions has slightly increased.
He said the centre was yet to achieve its goal on the accreditation and quality assurance of management development consultants and institutions due to lack of funds.
“We have not achieve our goals but the centre is trying to get funding by all means,’’ Usman said.
According to him, the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) will not be able to do accreditation due to limited resources.
He then called on the Federal Government to assist the SMEs to carry out their accreditation to enable them expand and create employment.
Usman said the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has issued a circular that no management consultants should be given any training consultancy except they are accredited by the centre (NAN)
