Abuja, March 27, 2017 (NAN) Mr Yunisa Sarki, the Village Head of Karmo-Sabo, in the FCT, says the community will work with schools in the area to promote environmental health.
Sarki disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday.
He said community leaders in the area had mobilised youths to begin intensive public awareness and embark on a sanitation to improve the well being of the students and the school environment.

“For the past two weeks, we have been going round to past information across we have asked them to remove all the (illegal structures) around this area and that every home should build their toilet.
“Any home that does not have a toilet we are going to take measures because we are partnering with Abuja Environmental Protection Board to make sure that we sanitise the area and every home should have a befitting toilet.
“We equally asked them not to dumprefuse here again, after the evacuation we have made plans to turn the place into a football field because every school needs to have a football field.
“So by God’s grace as soon as they finish the evacuation we are going to mount a pole.
“We have also written to the UBEB, and they have promised that immediately after the evacuation they will swing into action to make sure that they fence the place for the school to stand in a befitting environment.’’

He said residents in the area had turned the school environment into a refuse dump which had become a source of worry and could lead to environmental and health hazards.
He said that the awareness and the clean-up exercise would also extend to other villages in the community.
The village head also said the community had worked closely with AEPB to ensure effective sanitation of the area. (NAN)
