Revitalisation
By Fortune Abang
Bwari (FCT), Jan. 26, 2017 (NAN) A community health worker, Mrs Elizabeth Jatau, has urged the Federal Government to revitalise the Kuduru Primary Health Care Centre in Bwari, FCT.
Jatau, who is the Senior Community Health Officer at the centre, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bwari on Thursday.
She decried the lack of electricity and water at the centre, saying that the situation had been a major hindrance to proper healthcare in the centre.

“We have water tank in the health facility here, but it is not functioning.
“There is light in the community, but we do not have light in the health facility.
“Those are the challenges we have in the health facility.
“We had a good number of patients here last year, but those things that we do not have are discouraging people from coming here now.
“We are not running shift here because of light issue and staff issue.
“We do not have much staff in the health facility, that’s why we only do morning shift.
“We appeal to the government to come to our aid in the area of the light and water issues to help us restore all these things so that the clinic will function efficiently.”

She also appealed to government to equip the centre with adequate manpower for the provision of medical and related services aimed at maintaining the good health of members of the community.
According to her, the centre lacks the required number of doctors, nurses and midwives that will meet the needs of the facility.
She said that the health centre had only six permanent and seven non-permanent staffers.
She stated that one other area of challenge is the inability of the centre to meet the increasing demand for attendants in the area of traditional birth.
“Since this place was opened, we have been encouraging people to access health services.
“We, therefore, urge government to come to our aid,” Jatau said. (NAN)
