Abuja, Sept. 16, 2016 (NAN) The Bus Conductors Association of Nigeria has said that the association will collaborate with the Lagos State Government to sanction untrained and unidentified conductors by January 2017.
Its National President, Mr Israel Adeshola, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Friday, said that by Jan. 1 2017 “we don’t want to see any untrained and unaccredited bus conductor operating in the park”.
According to him, Nigerians don’t take innovation seriously unless it is enforced.
He said that Lagos State government had agreed to provide a batch with uniform as means of identification and the association would also give their members Identification Card before enforcing the sanction.
“We are concentrating on Lagos state for now, the campaign is on in Lagos that from Jan. 1, all members should be trained and accredited.
“You know in our system, if you say something and there is no action to back it up, they will take it for granted.
“So, we want to make sure that from Jan. 1, we don’t want to see any untrained conductor or unaccredited conductor operating in the parks.
“Immediately after the accreditation, the Lagos state government will issue a batch ID cards to identify them, followed by a uniform which will be flagged-off as soon as possible.
“When all these things are in place, we will start sanctioning untrained operators either by fines or otherwise,” he said.
Adeshola said that the ongoing training was about the conductors relationship with passengers, their composure and manners of approach. (NAN)
