Abuja, March 1, 2017 (NAN) The President Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), Dr Idris Omede, has solicited the support of media organisations in projecting the activities of his association.
Omede made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr Bayo Onanuga on Wednesday in Abuja.
He explained that the collaboration between the APBN and NAN will go a long way to portray the association in a positive light.
“It is key we relate with media organisations such as NAN where things should work.

“Anytime, anybody sees any information coming from NAN he or she knows crystal clear that it is from the right source and correct.
“NAN has that reputation, for that we respect the integrity and professionalism from the agency.
“We want you to maintain that tempo as much as possible’’.
According to him, membership of the association cuts across all professions in health, finance, administration, building and construction industry among others.
He said that association comprises 30 professional member bodies, which are registered or chartered by the act of parliament.
“We do realise that for any nation to develop and progress it must rely so much on its professionals and a nation that have professional in its coffer the onus lies on its government to use the professionals.
He stressed the need for Nigerian professionals to have due recognition in the areas that they are eminently competent, saying undue preference for their foreign counterparts should be discouraged.
The president urged journalists to register with the association for mutual benefits.
Responding, the managing director of NAN, assured the association of agency’s readiness to collaborate toward effective information  dissemination.
According to him, it is imperative that journalists are part and parcel of the association’s membership.
Onanuga noted that a symbiotic relationship between the media organisations and the APBN will enable the association to achieve its goals and objectives.

The managing director also stressed the need for Nigerians to have confidence in the indigenous professionals by engaging their services in the over all interest and development of the country. (NAN)
