Jalingo, March 9, 2017 (NAN) The Ussa Development Association in Taraba on Thursday commenced the rehabilitation of the 5-km Takum – Ussa road to ease the suffering of motorists in the area.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the economic road linking the area with some parts of the state and the country has been in a terrible state for nearly two decades.

Speaking with NAN at the site, the Chairman of the Association, Mr Mamri Ndeiri, said grading the road was part of the association`s activities to complement government’s efforts.

He said the road was critical to revenue generation as no fewer than 15 trucks loaded with timber and other farm produce ply the road daily to other parts of the country.

Ndeiri noted that the road rehabilitation would also check the numerous reported cases of motor accidents and armed robbery in the area.

The chairman commended the member representing the area in the House of Representatives, Mr Rimam Shawulu, for his support and contribution to the project.

Two road users, Mr Ayetop Garba and Mr John Yakwa, urged the state government and philanthropists to support the association in its efforts to develop the area. (NAN)
