Yola, Dec. 19, 2016 (NAN) The Adamawa chapter of Association of Nigerian Architectural Professionals (ATAP) has embarked on a tree planting campaign  as part of activities to mark its end of year programme.

Speaking to newsmen on the campaign, the Chairman of the union, Mr Umar Marafa, said members had planted many tree seedlings in various parts of Yola to mark the end of the year.

“We have planted 50 seedlings at the headquarters of the state urban planning, we planted about 40 at Federal Housing Estate primary school and other public and private schools as well as other places in need within the state capital.

“This is part of our contribution to mitigate desertification and global warming,” Marafa said.

He said that the association had also conducted career talks for students in various schools.

Also commenting, the National President of the association, Dr Olusegun Idowu, lauded the effort of the association, adding that the group was committed to nation building and promoting professionalism.

Idowu said that the association hoped to check  quackery by bringing together draft men, technicians and architects.

He lauded government efforts to reconstruct the North-East that was ravaged by the Boko Haram insurgency and called for the involvement of professionals to do a quality job. (NAN)
