Lafia, Feb. 22, 2017 (NAN) The Nasarawa State Chapter of National Association of Parent Teachers Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN), has called for enactment of law to compel public officers to enrol their children in public schools.

Mr Umar Ammed-Abeyan, Nasarawa State Chairman of NAPTAN, made the call on Wednesday in Lafia, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to him, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, should make deliberate effort to make a law to mandate public officers in the state to enrol their children in public schools.
He stressed that if implemented, it would bring positive reforms in the education sector.

“The Nasarawa State House of Assembly should as a matter of urgency enact a law that would compel all public officers in the state to enrol their children in public schools.

“The law should not just compel public officers to enrol their children in public schools, but including civil servants,” he added

Ammed-Abeyan added that most teachers in the public primary and secondary schools in the state, teach without instructional materials to illustrate to students for easy understanding.

He said that government needed to give priority to the welfare of teachers in public schools in order to motivate them to put in their best.

The NAPTAN chairman stressed the need for prompt payment of salaries of teachers, as delay would be counter-productive. (NAN)
