Maiduguri, Feb. 10, 2017 (NAN) The 7 Division of the Nigerian Army said on Friday that it would collaborate with the Yola Distribution Company to acquire meters in barracks under its jurisdiction.

Brig.-Gen. Victor Ezugwu, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division disclosed this while receiving some officials of the company who paid him a visit at the Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.

Lt.-Col. Kingsley Samuel, the spokesman of the Division, stated this in a statement issued in Maiduguri.

Samuel quoted the GOC as saying that the action was sequel to a directive from the Nigerian Army headquarters in Abuja.

“Yola Electricity Distribution Company has been a major stakeholder in the generation and distribution of power since the restoration of Maiduguri into the national grid.

” The Army Headquarters had directed the metering of all barracks across the country to get an accurate estimation of power consumption and reduction of electricity bills.

“I urge the Yola Distribution Company to hasten the metering of barracks within the Division’s Area of Responsibility,’’ Ezugu was quoted as saying in the the statement.

Team leader of Distribution Company, Mrs Zainab Hassan,  thanked the GOC for the fruitful deliberation and reception accorded her them.

She assured of the Company’s plan to meter all customers as this plan had already been captured in the company’s 2017 budget.

Hassan pledged to work harmoniously with 7 Division Engineers to actualize the metering of the barracks within a short period. (NAN)
