Donation

Kano, Jan. 12, 2017 (NAN) The Kano State Government on Thursday said it had donated N5.4 million to retired members of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the state.
Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje announced the donation at the launch of the 2017 Nigeria Armed Forces Remembrance Day appeal fund at the Government House, Kano.
Ganduje, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, also announced a personal donation of N100,000 to the retired officers.
He said that the money was to enable the ex-service men to take care of their immediate needs.
The governor said ex–service men should always be remembered for the supreme price they paid and the disability they had sustained in the course of serving the country.
He urged wealthy Nigerians and corporate organisations to join in supporting the ex-servicemen.
He also commended members of the armed forces and the police for their contributions to the maintenance of peace in the state.
The Chairman of Nigerian Legion, Kano State Chapter, Malam Abdullahi Bagobiri, thanked the governor for supporting the legion in many ways.
He also hailed the legionnaires for their steadfastness, perseverance and exemplary conduct. (NAN)
