Abuja, July 21, 2017(NAN) A Gudu Upper Area Court in Abuja on Friday sentenced a 27- year-old man, Ndiana Cletus, to one-month imprisonment for stealing a Nokia cell phone.
The convict was arraigned on a one-count charge of theft which contravened Section 289 of the Penal Code.
The Judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, sentenced Cletus after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
Kagarko said that he took the plea of the Defence Counsel, Miss Chioma Nwachukwu, who urged the court to temper justice with mercy into consideration in delivering his judgment.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Mr Donatus Abah, had told the court that one Monday Shoyemi of Apo New Site, Abuja, reported the matter at the Apo Police Station on July 17.
Abah said the complainant reported that the convict stole his Nokia cell phone worth N32, 000 including N3, 630 cash from another apprentice by name Janice. (NAN)
