Lagos, March 2, 2017 (NAN) A 21-year-old man, Toheeb Oseni, alleged to have defiled his neighbour’s six-year-old daughter was on Thursday arraigned at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
Oseni, an apprentice, who resides at 1, Okelane St., Bariga, Lagos, is being tried for defilement.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Raphael Donny, told the court that the offence was committed in January, 2017, at the residence of the accused.
Donny said that the accused called the victim, a six-year-old girl, into his room with the pretext of sending her on an errand.
“The accused shut the door after her, covered her mouth and defiled her,” he told the court.
He said that it was the victim’s brother that heard her crying out of the accused room and alerted neighbours.
According to Donny, the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Davies Abegunde, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N500, 000, with two sureties in like sum.
Abegunde adjourned the case to March 22. (NAN)
