Applicant docked over alleged stealing of goods worth N222, 000

Lagos, July 10, 2018 (NAN) A 32-year-old applicant , Wasiu Alabi, who allegedly stole empty gas cylinders and engine oil, valued at N222,000, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
Alabi, who resides at No.7, Akinola St., Agege, a suburb of Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the offences were committed on June 13, at 321, Lagos-Abeokuta express way, Abule Egba area of Lagos.
Odugbo said that the accused and one other at large, burgled Mr Kudus Olukotun’s shop at night and stole four empty gas cylinders valued at N48,000
“Other item stolen were, eight kegs of engine oil valued at N137,000 and one generator battery, valued at N37,000 .
“The following morning, the complainant reported the case at the police station,” he said.
Odugbo added that the accused was arrested when he wanted to sell the engine oil to the complainant’s brother.
“The accused told the police that he does not know his other accomplice’s house,” he said.
The offences contravened Sections 287, 306 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs S. K. Matepo, granted the accused N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until July 27, for mention. (NAN)
