Zaria (Kaduna State), Feb. 3, 2017 (NAN) A private college, the Ango Abdullahi Collage of Health Technology and Advanced Studies, is seeking appliation with Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria to run diploma programmes..

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that an assessment team was at the college in Zaria on Friday to determine its readiness to run courses in health technology.

Dr Hauwa Isa, Chairperson of the Affiliation Committee, told NAN that the visit was to determine the readiness of the institution in terms of facilities, carrying capacity and staffing.

“From my assessment, the college has satisfied everything in terms of facilities.

“However, we have pointed out some specific areas where they have to remedy before we can give affiliation to them.

“So far, we cannot say they are excellent, there are some things they need to put in place, but for now things are very good and satisfactory.

“From what we have seen during this visit, the proprietor has done a very good job, I must congratulate him for that because he is helping the society,” she said.

On carrying capacity of the college, Isa, who is the Director, School of Applied Science of the polytechnic said for now it had been advised to admit not more than 80 students.

“We advised him to strictly adhere to 40 students per class; therefore the college’s carrying capacity for now is 80 students.

“We want quality education, we don’t want to graduate students without having the technical know-how, that is why we want him to put things in place and the moment he does that we will grant him affiliation.

“This is because he is going to help us, the population of students in Nuhu Bamalli sometimes we don’t know what to do, but with him he is going to absorb some of them here,” she said.

The Director of the college, Dr Aliyu Shamsuddeen appreciated the committee members for the assessment.

He said the college had already admitted 200 students for 2016/2017 academic session to pursue courses in Environmental Studies, Nursing and Community Health, Dental Therapy, Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory and Science Laboratory Technology among others.

He said apart from the Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, the college would also collaborate with Nasarawa State College of Health Science and Lala College of Health Science, Gusau, to run more courses.(NAN)
