Abuja, July 5, 2017 (NAN) The National Industrial Court, Abuja, will on Sept.14 deliver judgment in a case of alleged wrongful dismissal instituted by one Bob Alfa against the Federal Ministry of Transport.
The judge, Justice Edith Agbakoba, fixed the date after counsel to the parties adopted their final written addresses.
Alfa, an engineer, at the Nigerian National Shipping Line (NNSL), sued the ministry over alleged unlawful dismissal on Jan.23, 1998.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NNSL is a parastatal agency under the Federal Ministry of Transport.
The claimant prayed the court to order the respondents to reverse his purported sack.
He also prayed the court to order the agency to retire him and pay his outstanding salaries, beginning from when he was sacked up to the time he was due for retirement.
Adopting his address, Mr Sam Akoji, counsel to the claimant, in his submission, told the court that there was merit in his client’s suit and urge the court to enter judgment in favour of the claimant.
Counsel to the Federal Ministry of Transport, Mr G.James, in his submission, urged the court to discountenance the submission of the claimant and dismiss the suit.(NAN)
