Ile-Ife (Osun), Aug. 4, 2017 (NAN) An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Friday remanded in prison two men — Afeez Adebodun and Sola Adedokun — charged with stealing a Peugeot 504 engine valued at N200,000.
The duo of Adebodun, 22, and Adedokun, 21, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing brought against them.
Magistrate Dorcas Ajiboye, who gave the ruling, did not grant the accused bail in spite of pleas by their lawyer to release them on bail.
She ordered that the accused should remain behind bars in Ile-Ife prison until the next date of adjournment.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP Matthew Imeprev, told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 31 at Lagere area of Ile-Ife.
According to Imeprev, the men conspired and stole a Peugeot 504 engine, property of Mr Fakile Sunday, valued at N200, 000.
The offence contravened Section 386, 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Ben Adiereje, had urged the court to grant them bail, saying they will not jump bail.
Hearing in the case has been fixed for Sept. 1. (NAN)
