Kano, July 17, 2018 (NAN) Some communities in Tudun Wada area in Kano metropolis have called on Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje to intervene in the alleged plan by one Alhaji Labaran Ali to take over the ownership of the land on which Ihyya’usunnah Islamiyya school was built.
The leader of the communities, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed made the call while speaking to newsmen in Kano on Tuesday.
He said the call was necessary in order to prevent Ali from taking over the school and a land given to the communities by the then Native Authority.
“This building was donated to the community by the Native Authority because the place used to be the house of Primary school teachers.
“The houses and another piece of land were given to the community to use them as Islamiyya school.
“But suddenly, the father of Ali who is late now claimed that the school and the land were allocated to him by the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero,”he said.
He said after the death of Bayero and Ali’s father he (Labaran Ali) went to court claiming that the school and the land belonged to their family.
“Already, the court had passed judgement in favour of Ali and handed over the ownership of the two places to him,”he said.
He, therefore, called on Gov. Ganduje to intervene in the issue to save them from losing the school with story of over 50 years of existence.
“We are appealing to Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje to come to our aid so as not to lose ownership of the school and the other land. “The school has been in existence for over 50 years.
Also commenting on the issue, the Ward Head of Tudun Wada, Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu blamed the state Universal Basic Education Board for not showing serious interest in the issue.
Efforts to contact Alhaji Labaran Ali to comnent on the issue failed as his mobile phone was not going through. (NAN)
