Commendation
Ado-Ekiti, Feb. 4, 2017 (NAN) Ekiti All Stars FC on Saturday commended some of the football fans who had been promoting sports in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the President of the club, Mr Segun Adelakun, gave the commendation in Ado-Ekiti during the club’s award ceremony to honour notable fans.
He commended all the soccer enthusiasts for contributing their quota to the development of sports.
Adelakun said the ceremony was not only organised to appreciate them and to build a harmonious relationship in 2017.
According to him, the award of excellence were given to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ekiti chapter, Ekiti Referees Association, Ekiti Sports Council and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Adelakun explained that the awards were given to different associations because of their support for the club in the past years.
He urged fans not to relent in their services and ensure that the sports sector was given adequate promotion this year.
Earlier, the Chairman, Organising Committee for the awards, Mr Oluwole Oloworemo, said the ceremony had been an annual event to appreciate outstanding football enthusiass in Ekiti.
He said that the programme ought to have been held in 2016 but due to some unforeseen circumstances it was postponed.
Oloworemo said he was highly fulfilled for the success of the award which had given members of the club the avenue to celebrate their achievements in the past years.
He said the objective of the club in 2017 was to create more enabling environment which would further promote the image of the club.
Oloworemo commended the recipients for their contributions to sports development and appealed to them continue with their good works.
NAN reports that some of the dignitaries that graced the event were the Commander of NSCDC, Mr Donatus Ikemefuna; Acting General Manager of Ekiti Sports Council, Mr Peter Dada; Chairman of Ekiti SWAN, Mr Deji Ogunsakin. (NAN)
