Lafia, March 20, 2017 (NAN) Gov. Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa State has warned individuals and communities in the state to desist from obstructing contractors handling projects in their area.

The governor gave the warning on Monday when he visited Mararaba-Akunza in Lafia Local Government Area of the state.

He urged residents of the state to support the development of government projects and not to be obstacles to them.

The governor urged the people to complement government`s developmental efforts by cooperating with contractors, adding that this was necessary to enable them to offer the required services.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the governor`s visit, however, did not go down well with some members of the community as some residents barricaded the road, protesting and stopping Triacta Construction Company from working in the area.

Al-makura, who frowned at the situation, warned he would not tolerate acts that could undermine government`s development and the enthronement of democracy in the state.

“Our administration will deal decisively with any one or group of individuals who tries to take laws in to their hands.

“We will not tolerate a situation where people prevent contractors from performing their work in the interest of the state.

“If you have any grievances, report to appropriate authorities for amicable resolution, rather than obstructing contractors who are here to develop your state,” Al-makura said.

The governor, however, reiterated his administration’s commitment to the transformation of rural communities in the state.

He said the government was determined to execute developmental projects in rural areas, especially with vigour.

Al-makura stressed that his administration would do everything possible to ensure that development was extended to all parts of the state. (NAN)
