Akun LG boss inaugurates revenue generation committee

Akun (Nasarawa State) May 18, 2017 (NAN) Mr Moses Malle, the Overseer of Akun Development Area of Nasarawa State, has inaugurated a seven-man revenue generation committee to boost Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in the council.
Malle, while inaugurating the committee in Akun on Thursday, urged the committee members to take revenue generation seriously to boost the revenue base of the council.
He said that there was little or nothing the council could achieve without a good financial base.
“The task ahead of you will enable the council provide the much needed dividend of democracy to the electorate.
“We cannot continue to depend on federal and state government’s allocations; there is the need for us to explore more ways of generating revenue to the coffers of the local government.
“Generation of more revenue will enable the council to initiate more people oriented projects in order to fight hunger, poverty and youth restiveness.
“It will also assist to boost socio-economic development of the area, the state and the country at large and particularly improve on the living condition of our people,’ he said.
Malle advised the committee members to be transparent and accountable in the discharge of their duties in order to repose the confidence the council had in them for overall development of the country.
“I sincerely implore you to be diligent in the discharge of this enormous duty to boost the IGR of the council.
“It is only by that we can be able to deliver the much needed dividend of democracy to our people,” he said.
He said that the council was committed to its good policies and programmes that had direct impact on the lives of the people of the area and the state at large.
Malle called on the people of the area and the state to support President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Tanko Almakura to enable them succeed.
The council boss used the medium to enjoin the people of the state and Nigerians at large to live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliations.
Mr Sunday Danjuma, the Chairman of the committee, expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in them and promised that they would put in their best to achieve good results.
He also promised that members would be transparent and accountable in the discharge of their duties. (NAN)
