Ajimobi’s wife assures women of more elective posts in Oyo

Ibadan, July 30, 2018 (NAN) The wife of the Oyo State Governor,  Mrs Florence Ajimobi, has assured women in the state of privileges to emerge as candidates for various elective positions in the forthcoming elections.

She said this in Ibadan on Monday after meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) women leaders at the party’s  secretariat.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting was presided over by Gov. Abiola Ajimobi.

The governor’s wife stated that the privileges were to ensure more involvement of women in governance.

She explained that women had during their deliberation with the governor stressed the need to adequately reap the dividends of democracy having been loyal to the current administration.

According to her,  the governor in his response promised to ensure more women participation in governance.

Dr Azeez Olatunde, the party’s Publicity Secretary, said the stakeholders meeting with women leaders was part of an ongoing effort to foster unity through reconciliation.

Olatunde noted that the effort would strengthen the party ahead of the general elections.

NAN reports that the meeting, which lasted several hours, had in attendance state executives of the party, elected female office holders and women leaders of the party. (NAN)
