African Fashion designers to showcase best wears in Abuja

Abuja, Sept.14, 2017 (NAN) Maimuna Abubakar, organiser of the Tozali African Fashion and Cultural Week, says designers from the continent were poised to make definitive statement with their creativity and innovation.

Abubakar made this known while addressing newsmen on the Thursday in Abuja on the activities for the Tozali African Fashion and Cultural week holding from Sept. 14 to Sept. 16 in Abuja.

“It is only through events like this that we can make a definitive statement that Africa’s creativity and innovation in fashion has come of age and for Africa to cloth the world,” she said.

The event aimed at discovering, showcasing and inspiring fashion talents, best of indigenous designs, cuisines, culture and arts from Africa to the world.

Abubakar stressed that fashion had become an `instantaneous language that tells the world who we are without us saying a word.”

” Tozali African Fashion and Cultural Week may not be the New York or London experience; it is uniquely our own experience in showcasing our food, culture and art the best way.

“We are expecting over 500 attendees within the fashion industry as well as designers from over 21 countries across African and the world that will feature in the event.

“The designers and exhibitors who will be showcasing their works have taken bold steps out of their comfort zones to project their creativity to not just Nigeria but the world.

Abubakar, who is also the publisher of Tozali Magazine maintained that African fashion could only compete with global brands,if Africans take the lead in moving it.

She said the hosts for the event include Nollywood celebrities Ramsey Noah; Morell, an arewa rising star(NAN)
