AFCSC conducts exercise Ubiak-Isin, gives free medical support to Kaduna communities

Kaduna, June 14. 2018(NAN) The Armed Forces Command and Staff College , (AFCSC) Jaji, Kaduna on Thursday conducted exercise Ubiak-Isin to prepare it’s junior officers for the fight against insurgency in the Northeast.
The exercise was also to prepare the officers for the security challenges ravaging other parts of the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report that, the 10 days exercise was carried out in Zaria in the Labar, Dunki and Wazata general area of Kaduna state.
NAN also report that the command predisposed the students to rescue operation tips, counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency tactics, ahead of what they will experience in the warfront.
The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Adm. Ebok Ete-Ibas, who was the guest of honor during the exercise, said the “students have learned a lot and if they imbibe the teaching very well, they can be deployed.”
Represented by the Director Policy and Tactics, Naval Headquarters, Rear Adm. Abdullahi Adams, Ete-Ibas said the students will make meaningful contribution towards curbing the security challenges we have around the country.”
The Naval Chief said the exercise, Obiak-isin, was designed for junior commanders at the theatrical level , adding that the current security challenges had led to the review and redefinition of warfare.
“That is why we have the Navy and the Airforce now joining the Army to conduct this exercise, “he said.
“For me, the concept is very good , because that is usually what plays out in the field.
“ And if you look at areas where we have this contemporary security challenges, we are having joint task forces where all the components of the military are working together,” he said.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, the college also gave medical support and services to more than 600 locals residing in Bina and surrounding villages.
NAN report that while the exercise was on, the student officers in collaboration with the National Emergency Management, NEMA carried out a two day rescue operation at Vina village, where many hostages captured by bandits were evacuated.(NAN)
