Adamawa RATTAWU trains, supports 200 members with agricultural inputs

Yola, Feb. 19, 2017 ( NAN) The Radio, Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), Adamawa State Television chapter, has trained and supported 200 of its rice and maize farmer members with agricultural inputs.

Mr Ibrahim Audu, Chairman of the union made the disclosure on Sunday in Yola at the end of a two-day capacity building workshop organised  for members engaged in dry season farming.

Audu said that the aim of the training was to empower members with basic knowledge on agricultural production and dry season farming.

“Today, about 200 of our members received basic training on agricultural production, specifically on rice and maize cultivation.

“The aim of the workshop is to impart knowledge and engage the members in agricultural business to improve their living standards,” Audu said.

He said that each of the trainee members was supported with 12 kg of improved rice and maize seeds and one kilogram of Agro chemical.

Declaring the workshop open, Mr Ahmadu Waziri, State Commissioner for Agriculture, commended  RATTAWU members for engaging in farming activities.

Waziri urged the members to sensitise the general public on the state government’s agricultural programme aimed at boosting food security and economic development. (NAN)
