Yola, March 27, 2017 (NAN) Adamawa Government has commenced the training of 63 health workers on life saving skills of women and children in the state.
Ms Fatima Atiku, the state Commissioner for Health, made this known on Monday at a workshop in Yola.
Atiku said that the training was aimed at reducing maternal and child morbidity.
“The Modified Life Saving Skills Programme is targeted to train 63 health workers from the 21 local government areas of the state.
“The core objective of the training is to compliment the government’s effort to improve knowledge and skills of health workers, reduce rate of maternal mortality and child morbidity in the state,” she said.
Atiku said that Adamawa and the entire North-East region have the highest records of maternal and child death in the country.
Also, Dr Abdullahi Belel, the Chairman, Adamawa Primary Healthcare Development Agency, said that the training was to improve capacity and skills of health workers. (NAN)
