Adamawa Govt. present 105 tractors to LGAs

Yola, Dec. 8, 2016 (NAN) Adamawa Government on Thursday presented 105 Tractors and harrows to Local Government Areas of the state.

Speaking at the distribution ceremony in Yola, Gov. Muhammadu Bindow, said the tractors were purchased through the state and Local Government Joint Account to boost mechanised agriculture in the state.

Bindow said that the state government has keyed into the Federal Government agricultural transformation programme towards diversifying the state’s economy.

“I want to assure you that my administration is still making some arrangement to provide more farming inputs and dry season fertilizer to farmers,” Bindow said.

Also speaking, the Commissioner of Agriculture, Alhaji Ahmadu Waziri, said the state government would help the local government in ensuring proper utilisation of the tractors for maximum benefit.

Responding on behalf of the local governments, the chairman of Fufore Local Government, Alhaji Aliyu Boya, said the development would not only help to boost agriculture at the grassroots but also the councils revenue.

In his remarks, Mr. Abbo Jiddere, state branch chairman, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), thanked the state government for the gesture, adding that this was the second time government is assisting farmers in the state.
