Yola, May 12, 2018 (NAN) Members of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa defied Saturday’s heavy down pour to participate in the party’s Local Government congress in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that accreditation of delegates for the election started around 10 a.m. at the respective congress venues of Yola North and Yola South Local Government Areas, while voting started around 1.30 p.m.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustafa, who participated in Yola North local government congress, described the exercise as smooth and peaceful.
Mustafa, who spoke to newsmen after voting, commended the orderly conduct of the exercise.
On reports of separate congress organised by a group in Yola, the SGF said any group that organised parallel congress does that in vain.
Also speaking, the Speaker of Adamawa House of Assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Mijinyawa, who participated in the congress in Yola South local government area, lauded delegates for their conduct and urged contestants to accept the result in good faith.
NAN also reports that the local government congress is expected to produce 26 party executives and three national delegates. (NAN)
