Women’s Day Celebration: Ekiti FA organises female soccer competition

Ado-Ekiti, March ‎2, 2017 (NAN) The Ekiti Football Association (FA) on Thursday said its maiden female soccer competition would kick off on Friday to mark the 2017 Women’s Day Celebration.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee, ‎Mrs Olayinka Adefemi, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ado-Ekiti.

She said the competition was to mark the women’s day celebration and also to educate parents on the importance of the girl-child in the society.

Adefemi, said that eight secondary schools had been selected to participate in the competition.

She explained that the principals of the schools had been duly informed of the competition and were ready to release their students to participate.

Adefemi said the eight secondary schools that would participate were Chris‎t Girls School, Ado; St.Lousis Girls College, Ikere; St. Mary’s Ikole, Methodist Girls, Ifaki, and  Odo-Oro Grammar school.

Others are Olaoluwa Musilim Grammar School, Ado, Ile Owuro High School, Agbado and Egbeoba High School, Ikole-Ekiti

Adefemi said the group matches would hold in the various schools, while the semi-final matches would be on March 6 and the final on March 7, at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti.

The chairman appealed to football stakeholders and lovers of sports to support the schools that would participate. ‎(NAN)
