Posting
Abuja, Feb. 1, 2017 (NAN) Majority of Secretaries of the Sports Federations under the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports were yet to assume duties as at Wednesday, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
A NAN correspondent who went round the national sports federation’s offices reports that the secretaries were not at their duty posts because they were yet to receive their posting letters.
NAN reports that the secretaries were deployed in a major deployment of Sports Ministry staff on Jan. 24.
At most of the federation secretariats at the National Stadium in Abuja, NAN gathered that most of the secretaries were however in their offices but could not function.
They could not function because they were yet to be handed over to by their predecessors, especially as they were yet to receive their posting letters.
As a result of this, no form of activity had been going on in the federation secretariats.
One of the new secretaries confirmed to NAN that he had just been sitting around.
“Well, in as much as I don’t want it to appear as if I and my other colleagues are complaining, but we have just been sitting around.
“We are yet to get posting letters, and the people we are taking over from are not ready to hand over to us.
“It is a dilemma, but it is also understandable,’’ the secretary, who pleaded for anonymity, told NAN.
In a reaction to this, Tolu Makinde, the ministry’s Director Information, said however that the ministry would soon issue posting letters to the secretaries.
“You know that the minister is bereaved and we cannot do much now. But, by God’s grace, we will give them their letters vey soon,’’ he said.(NAN)
