2 men in court over alleged stealing of employer’s N620,000

Lagos, Feb. 1, 2017 (NAN) Two men were on Wednesday arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court  for allegedly stealing N620, 000 belonging to their employer.

 

The accused- Fatai Waliu, 34, and Christopher Ejembi, 27, however, denied committing the offence.

 

The duo who worked at Jumia Nigeria Ltd., are facing a two – count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offences were committed on Dec. 29 at Jumia Nigeria Ltd, Ikeja.

Ogu said that the accused were given some goods valued at N620, 000 to be delivered to a customer.

“The accused sold the goods, collected the money and failed to remit it into the company’s account,’’ he said.

The offences contravened Sections 278 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N 400,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum, and adjourned the case till Feb. 20 for mention. (NAN)
