NSCDC resolved 48 conflicts in 2016 – official

Kaduna, Jan. 30, 2017 (NAN) The Kaduna Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has said that its Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit attended to 64 cases and resolved 48 in 2016.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Orndiir Terzungwe, gave the figures in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Kaduna.

Terzungwe listed the reported cases to include those on breach of trust, land dispute and family matters.

“As part of our alternative dispute resolution strategy, the command attended to 64 matters through its peace and conflicts resolution unit.

“On breach of trust, 31 cases were attended to, 23 resolved while eight are ongoing.

“On land dispute, 20 cases were reported, 13 resolved while seven are still on.

“On family matters, 13 cases were reported, 12 resolved and one pending,’’ he told NAN.

He said that the unit recovered N2. 2 million and had given same to the rightful owners.

Terzungwe said that the command was committed to reducing crime, and called on members of the public for maximum cooperation. (NAN)
