Agriculture
By Temitope Salami
Ijebu-Ode (Ogun), Jan. 30, 2017 (NAN) Nigerians must embrace agriculture in its entirety in order to put food on tables and overcome the current economic recession ravaging.
An economist, Dr Tolani Hassan, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ijebu-Ode on Monday.
Hassan also said Nigerians should increasingly patronise locally made products and focus more on exportation for the nation’s currency to surge in value.
He advised all tiers of government to continue to ensure that the dividends of democracy extended to every part of the country through provision of social amenities.
He said Nigerians should expect better days ahead while supporting the Buhari-led administration to turn around the country’s fortune.
He implored government to provide more employment opportunities to the youths to reverse the spate of crime saying, “An idle mind will always be the devil’s workshop.”
Hassan also urged youths to shun all forms of social vices that could tarnish their greater future and look for ways to develop themselves.
He urged government to always run an inclusive system by giving youths the opportunity to serve in sensitive offices rather than relegating them to the background.
Hassan, Senior Economics Lecturer, College of Management and Social Sciences, Tai Solarin University of Education, insisted that Nigeria still had numerous potentials to be exploited.
He urged the citizens to adopt positive attitude toward the current economic challenges, adding that everyone must contribute his or her quota to the development of the nation. (NAN)
