By Boboye Moronke
Lagos, Jan. 27, 2017 (NAN) Five men, who allegedly snatched four cars at gunpoint, were on Friday remanded in prison on the orders of an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused — Saheed Lukman, 28; Damilola Oladipupo, 26; Lekan Onawale, 25; Bayo Aremu, 23; and Ayo Adebayo, 21 — all unemployed, are residents of Ikotun in Alimosho Council Area of Lagos State.
The plea of the accused, who are facing a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy and armed robbery, was, however, not taken as the Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsanmi, ordered that the men should be remanded in Kirikiri Prisons.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha had told the court that the offences were committed on Dec. 12, 2016 at African Shrine, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
Inuoha said the accused with others still at large went to the car park, brought out guns and robbed people of their belongings including cars.
“The accused robbed four people of their cars, all valued at N7 million and a cash sum of N2 million.”
He said in their escape bid after the operation the Police intercepted the five, while escaped.
The offences contravened Sections 1(2) (a) and 5(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act, Laws of Federation 1990.
The case has been adjourned to March 16. (NAN)
