Stealing
Akure, Jan. 26, 2017 (NAN) Two men, Oshilim Sunday (40) and Toyin Adeleke (37), were on Thursday brought before an Akure Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly stealing 18 mobile phones and five chargers.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Martins Olowofeso, told the court that the two accused persons conspired and stole N19,000 cash and18 different brands of handsets valued at N200,000.
“They also stole a Yamaha generator valued at N60,000 all totalling N279,000 which belonged to Inyang Smart.
“Both accused also stole a cash sum of N25,000 and 5 different handset chargers valued at N8,000 belonging to Yahaya Ahmed,” he said.
He further explained that the charges were contrary to and punishable under Sections 516 and 390(9) respectively, of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Vol. I, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Both accused pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge.
Counsel to the accused, Grace Obanigba and Abraham Yakubu, asked for bail for their clients in liberal terms and assured of credible sureties, if granted.
The Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-Manuel, granted bail to both accused in the sum of N200,000 and one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case till March 7, for hearing. (NAN)
