Court remands 4 for alleged robbery at gun point

Lagos, Jan. 26, 2017 (NAN) An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded four men in Kirikiri prison for alleged robbery at gun point.

The accused, Caleb Tobechukwu, 20, Henry Ogidi, 31, Christopher Okeregbe, 19 and Joshua Ezekiel, 29, are unemployed and reside in Festac town, Lagos.

The accused, whose plea was not taken, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and robbery.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O Osunsanmi, ordered the men to be remanded in prison and adjourned hearing on bail application in the case until March 9.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha told the court that the offences were committed on Dec. 20, 2016 in Alakija Area of Festac, Lagos.

Inuoha said the accused were armed with guns and robbed one Mrs Kimberly Saliu of her mobile phone and N50,000 cash.

“The complainant was on her way when the accused intercepted her, pointed the gun at her and robbed her of her mobile phone valued at N150,000 and N50,000 cash.”

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 294 and 295 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. (NAN)
