Unemployed man faces rape charges in Lagos

Lagos, Jan. 25, 2017 (NAN) A 33-year-old unemployed man, Lukman Adebayo, accused of sexual assault and rape, was on Wednesday docked before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court.

The Prosecutor, Mr Simeon Inuoha, told the court that the accused, residing at No.33, Abiola Adeyemi St. in Ikotun area of Lagos, committed the offence on Jan. 9.

Inuoha told the court that the accused lured the girl into his room and shut the door.

“The accused tore the girl’s clothes and raped her,” he said.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 135 and 259 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N300, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till March 9 for mention. (NAN)
