Oyo commences FG N-power supplementary verification Tuesday

By Akeem Abas Ibadan, Jan. 23, 2017 (NAN) The Oyo State Government says the supplementary verification exercise for beneficiaries of the Federal Government Social Investment Programme (N-power) will commence on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mrs Atinuke Osunkoya, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community Development and Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation, on Monday in Ibadan.
Osunkoya said that the exercise would hold from Jan. 24 to Friday, Jan. 28.
She urged beneficiaries of the programme from the state who missed the earlier verification exercise to show up at their respective local governments with their credentials, identification and other relevant documents.
The commissioner said that the deployment of the already verified beneficiaries would take place soon.
Similarly, Mr Abayomi Oke, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, has appealed to youths in the state to unite and form a formidable team that would promote good governance.
Oke was quoted by a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan that a united youth would enhance good governance as preached by the Ajimobi-led administration in the state.
He made the call when he received Amb. Adeniyi Adeyemi, the President-General of World Youth Organisation (WYO), and his team in Ibadan.
According to him, “youths are the leaders of tomorrow.
“To build the state and the nation at large, all we needed is to unite and bring out numerous positive developments, programmes and achievements.
“I urge the youth leaders to come together to make Oyo State better. We need to unite ourselves and make amendments where necessary.”
The commissioner told Adeyemi that the ministry was ready to partner the WYO to see how the youths in the state could benefit from the organisation.
He said that the youths have the future needed to pursue greater goals, urging them to be more focused and assured that the state was solidly behind their legitimate programmes.
Adeyemi said that he had been involved in youth projects and empowerment activities since his days as a student at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
The WYO president-general, who hailed from Ogbomoso in Oyo State, said that WYO was a non-profit organise working for social welfare with its primary focus on youth affairs.
He expressed his readiness to partner with the Oyo state government to reduce unemployment among youths in the state. (NAN)
