Taraba LG Poll : Chairmanship candidate pledges to tackle poor waste management, if elected

Jalingo, Jan 23,2017 (NAN ) Alhaji Aminu Liman, All Progressives Congress ( APC ) Chairmanship candidate for Jalingo Council Area election on Monday pledged to tackle poor waste management, if elected in the Feb.11 council polls.

Liman told newsmen in Jalingo that the high volume of liquid and solid waste in the council was a threat to the health and general wellbeing of the people.

He cited the smell emitted by a liquid waste in Jalingo abattoir as hazardous to health, stressing that he would evacuate the waste within his early days in office.

The candidate said that residents of Sabon-gari where the abattoir was located had always decried the offensive smell, water pollution and outbreak of strange diseases caused by the waste.

Liman said that he campaign was hinged on social re–orientation, economic revitalisation and infrastructure resurgence.

He further promised the people that he would liaise with relevant agencies to rid the council off heaps of refuse on the streets.

On empowerment, he also promised to provide opportunities for youths in the area to acquire training on various skills and trades for them to become self reliant and employers of labour.

The candidate, who is a London- trained-financial-expert, said he would promote entrepreneurship by providing soft and interest free loans for the people to embark on viable venture and raise their income level.

He also pledged to reposition the council’s motor parks, cemeteries, markets, public toilets, among others. (NAN)
