Enugu, Jan.21, 2017 (NAN) Dr Godwin udeuhele, the Enugu State Commissioner for Information, says the state’s cultural troupe has been reconstituted for greater efficiency and service delivery.

Addressing newsmen on Saturday in Enugu, on the outcome of the State Executive Council Meeting held Friday night, Udeuhele said that the troupe had long been torn by factions.

He said that the state government was aware that members of the troupe were no more performing well in spite of assistance given to them.

“The approval for the reconstitution by the council was sequel to the troupe’s abysmal performances in recent outings, occasioned by complaints and conflicts caused by clash of interests.

“There was also frightening level of disrespect and indiscipline among members, and against constituted authorities before the new commissioner was appointed.

“That time, if you come to Okpara Square during their rehearsals you will see two groups of the same troupe dance to the same music,” he said.

The commissioner said that as a prelude to the reconstitution, an audition had been done to inject fresh ideas into the administration of the troupe.

Udeuhele said that the high level of insubordination among members of the troupe had stalled the exportation of the culture of the state.

“For instance they were due to travel outside the country with the Minister of Information this week, but because of these lapses they will not go,” he said. (NAN)
