Lagos, Jan. 20, 2017 (NAN) A Federal High Court in Lagos, on Friday fixed Feb. 13 to hear the bail application of a 32-year-old unemployed man, Idobo Egede, who allegedly peddled 1.4kg of hemp.
Justice Rabiu Shagari fixed the date after accused Counsel, Mrs Lilian Omotunde informed the court that she was yet to file any bail application for Egede.
Shagari ordered that the accused be remanded in prison, pending the determination of his bail application.
The accused, who is charged for drug trafficking, pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The Prosecutor, Mr Jeremiah Aernan had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 29, 2016 in Lagos.
He said the accused was arrested when he was trying to convey the hemp from Lagos to Ijebu-Ode.
“Officers of NDLEA acted on a tip-off, trailed the accused and intercepted him before the vehicle he boarded could move,’’ he said.
The offence contravened Sections 11 (b) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
