Lagos Jan. 19, 2017 (NAN) Mr Anthony Shishler, President,Fahrenheit Hospitality has condemned the infiltration by non-professionals in hospitality firms like hotels, eateries, recreational centres, which he said has affected the quality of service.
Shishler told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, in Lagos that Nigerian hospitality industry was too vibrant to be handled by non-professionals , adding that more professionals should be involved.
According to him, this development has affected the growth of the industry, including the quality of service delivery.
He therefore called on the appropriate authorities regulating the industry to ensure that professionals were involved in the running of all hospitality outfit.
” We need the help of hospitality regulatory bodies like: Nigeria Hotel Association, National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism, Hospitality and Tourism Management Association of Nigeria and more.
” These bodies could ensure hospitality firms in the country are run by those who studied Hospitality or tourism related courses before been picked to manage any,” he said.
According to him, regulatory authorities should impose sanctions on any firm that fails to comply with the rule, adding that this remains the only way to sanitise the hospitality industry and channel it to grow tourism.
” Someone who studied physics in the university has no business in the hospitality firm except he has gone to study a hospitality institute.
” Hoteliers are not only to market their rooms, but also their experiences, which is very important,” he said.
Shishler said that when professionalism is given priority, Nigerian hospitality industry gets a better boom. (NAN)
