Court orders remand of bus conductor in Ikoyi Prison over burglary

Lagos, Jan. 18, 2017 (NAN) A Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday ordered the remand of a 20-year-old bus conductor, Leke Adeshina, at the Ikoyi Prison for stealing.
The accused, arraigned on a four-count charge of conspiracy, breaking and entry and theft, pleaded guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr Omolaja Kazeem, ordered that the accused should be remanded in the Ikoyi Prison untill Feb. 22, when it would sentence him.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Insp Philip Osijiale, told the court that the accused allegedly burgled several houses on Jan. 13, at about 3:30 a.m. at Ocean Palm Estate, Ajah Lagos.
He alleged that the accused conspired with others at large to break into the apartments of Ifeanyi Enumuo, Abel Mokoto and Anthonia Okoli, respectively through the windows.
He told the court that the accused and his accomplices allegedly stole cell phones and laptops, all valued at N705, 000.
The prosecutor said: “the accused and his accomplices broke into houses of innocent residents of the estate and stole their phones and other gadgets.
“While others had escaped, the accused was nabbed by the estate’s security guards with two of the stolen laptops in his possession, while he was trying to scale the fence.”
Osijiale said that the offences contravened Sections 285 (7), 307 (1) (2) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. (NAN)
