Minna, 17, Jan. 2017 (NAN) A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, College of Education, Minna, Mr Fagboyo Oladapo has advised parents to desist from stopping their children and wards from making Fine and Applied Arts a career.
Oladapo made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Tuesday.
He said that students, who studied Fine Arts do not necessarily need to depend on government for a job rather they could become employers of labour.
“With the present economy, everybody and students in particular should begin to think of a career that will put food on their tables rather than roaming the streets in search of job,” he said.
Oladapo said that the department was in dearth of students largely as a result of parents dislike for the course.
He called on prospective students who had attempted JAMB examination in the past without success to take advantage of the numerous vacancies in the department.
NAN reports that the department run courses in sculpture, graphics, textile designs ceramics and paintings. (NAN)
