Abuja, Jan. 17, 2017 (NAN) John Peters, an international table tennis coach, on Tuesday said the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) 2017 World Tour would help to improve Nigerian players’ performance.
Peters, a blue badge coach, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the top four Nigerian table tennis players would take part in the competition.
NAN reports that the tour tagged “Hungarian Open” will be the first major ITTF World Tour for 2017, slated for Thursday to Sunday in Budapest, Hungary.
“The tour is a good one and this is the first time we are having this number of Nigerians taking part. This is a good one for our players.
“The tour will also help to improve the quality of play of the players and expand their experience,” Peters said.
NAN also reports that Nigeria has the largest number of participating players in the tournament.
The highest ranked player in the continent, Aruna Quadri, will lead four other Nigerian players to the championship.
Others participating in the championship are Italy-based duo of Olajide Omotayo and Kazeem Makanjuola and Portugal-based pair of Bode Abiodun and Ojo Onaolapo.(NAN)
