Lagos, Jan. 16, 2017 (NAN) Two men — John Onyenuforo and Joseph Adetunji — who allegedly robbed a man of N1 million in his hotel room, are to cool their heels in prison till March 16, an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court ruled on Monday.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka, who gave the order, said the accused should be remanded at Kirikiri Prisons even after taking their pleas.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the duo had pleaded not guilty to the two-count offence of conspiracy and robbery.
Onyenuforo, 24, a trader, lives at 12, Ogundare St., Ikorodu, while Adetunji, 25, a bricklayer, resides at 17, Badebo St., Ojota, Lagos.
Prosecutor Donjor Perezi had told the court that the offences were committed on Dec. 22 at Rel-Dannielle Hotel on Emmanuel Street, Ojota.
Perezi said the complainant, Mr Isaiah Adekoye, who had just returned to Nigeria, lodged in the hotel.
He was allegedly intercepted on his way to the hotel by the accused.
“One of the accused held the complainant down in a corner, while the other one took his hotel room key and left.
“The accused went away with a cash of N1 million taken from the complainant ‘s hotel room, ” he said.
The offences contravened Sections 295(1) and 297 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The case has been adjourned to March 16 for mention.(NAN)
